The Mycetoma Research Centre (MRC) at the University of Khartoum was represented at the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) by Professor Ahmed Fahal, Director of the Centre, and Ms. Lubna Sulayman Elnour, Research Assistant and Master\u2019s student at Nagasaki University.<\/p>\n

The Centre\u2019s participation reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to raising global awareness of mycetoma as a neglected tropical disease and to strengthening international collaboration for its prevention, control, and management.<\/p>\n

In a high-level panel discussion, Professor Fahal addressed the multifaceted challenges posed by mycetoma, its devastating impact on affected communities, and the pressing need for a coordinated international response.<\/p>\n

He also delivered a lecture outlining the Centre\u2019s journey from its establishment to its designation as a World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre on Mycetoma. In his address, he emphasised the Centre\u2019s major achievements in research, training, patient care, and holistic management, while presenting its vision for reinforcing global efforts against this neglected disease.<\/p>\n
