Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on Sunday 24 October 2018 had visited the Mycetoma Research Centre in Khartoum (Sudan), WHO Collaborating Centre on Mycetoma where he pledged to support initiatives that produce better diagnostics and medicines for this goal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4627 alignnone\" 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Ghebreyesus has called for more research into mycetoma, in particularly on its epidemiology, diagnostics to produce a simple point of care test, called for new cost effect medicine and disease control.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4629 alignnone\" justify;\">\u201cThis visit by the Director-General and other senior staff illustrates the current vision of WHO to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable\u201d said Professor Ahmed Hassan Fahal, Director of the MRC. \u201cIt not only boosts the morale of the staff but opens a new chapter of collaborative research and a thrust to find innovative treatment for this mostly
